Role Overview:

The role of a Motion Graphics Designer (2D) is to deliver high-quality motion content for digital screens in-store, DOOH, social media, and web platforms. As a key member of the motion team, you will collaborate closely with other motion designers, videographers, editors, digital designers, and creatives to produce best-in-class 2D animated content for JD Group fascias. You are a creative thinker, technically proficient, and eager to develop your craft through continuous learning and collaboration. While not required to work in 3D, you are comfortable working independently and in a team setting, contributing effectively to a fast-paced production environment.

 

Key Areas Of Responsibility

 

  • Operate as a core contributor within the motion department, delivering 2D motion and mixed media executions across multiple fascias and platforms using Adobe After Effects and the Adobe Creative Cloud suite.
  • Champion the day-to-day delivery of 2D motion content, maintaining the visual integrity of supplied designs and optimising animations for platform-specific outputs.
  • Design and animate in line with JD brand guidelines, ensuring content is customer-focused, engaging, and brand-consistent.
  • Maintain a strong attention to detail and uphold visual excellence throughout production.
  • Support campaign rollouts by ensuring content is delivered on-brand, on-time, and optimised for various screens and channels.
  • Contribute to concept development, storyboard creation, and execution of motion graphics that meet creative briefs and enhance storytelling across digital touchpoints.
  • Collaborate closely with seniors, leads, peers, workflow managers, producers, and project managers to deliver consistent and effective creative solutions.
  • Maintain a positive attitude, openness to feedback, and a collaborative mindset when working with cross-functional teams.
  • Engage in professional development and ongoing learning to strengthen skills and adapt to evolving tools and techniques in 2D animation.
  • Participate in feedback sessions, trend analysis, and research that contribute to the evolution of JD’s motion output.
  • Organise project files using department structures, naming conventions, and asset management practices. Ensure all deliverables follow the QC and sign-off processes.
  • Build strong relationships with video, design, and creative teams to streamline workflows and enhance collaboration.
  • Support the innovation and development of in-store digital experiences through animated content that captures customer attention and strengthens brand engagement.
  • Be proactive and adaptable, taking on ad hoc tasks when needed to meet business objectives.

 

Skills/Experience/Knowledge needed:

 

  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe After Effectsfor motion graphics creation.
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, especially:
    • Photoshop
    • Illustrator
    • Premiere Pro
    • Media Encoder
    • XD (basic)
  • Excellent 2D motion graphics design skills, including:
  • Typography
  • Timing and pacing
  • Visual storytelling
  • Creative concept developmentand the ability to visualise and storyboard ideas clearly.
  • Solid understanding of video formats, compression, and encoding techniques.
  • Ability to adapt and optimise contentfor various platforms (social, DOOH, web, in-store screens).
  • Attention to detailand commitment to delivering high-quality, polished outputs.
  • Experience in collaborative team environments, working with videographers, editors, designers, and producers.
  • Ability to work independentlyand manage multiple projects within tight deadlines.
  • Organised approach to project files, asset management, and version control.
  • Openness to feedbackand ability to iterate based on critique from seniors and peers.
  • Basic understanding of video productionprocesses and workflows.
  • Willingness to explore and implement new techniquesand motion trends.
  • Working knowledge of Maxon Cinema 4Dis a plus, but not required.
  • Eagerness for continuous learningand professional development.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
