Reporting Finance Manager – JD Gyms

Role Overview:
Working under the guidance of the JD Gyms Head of Finance within a fast paced, high-growth and market leading subsidiary of the JD PLC business. This role will be highly visible, with a direct line into the senior leadership team of the JD Gyms business.
Primarily based at JD PLC headquarters in Bury but working closely in person with key stakeholders at the Wigan Gyms HQ, this offers the right candidate the opportunity to affect change, bringing their own ideas to the role and challenging the status quo.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
- Managing a team in the production of Management Accounts, adhering to Group deadlines and reporting standards. Supporting the Head of Finance with:
- Full P&L and Balance Sheet review, with clear and concise supporting variance analysis
- Manage and submit monthly financial submissions to the JD PLC via Oracle FCC.
- Review and develop best practice processes, geared towards achieving efficiencies in the month end reporting process, to enable time for further business support.
- Maintain, continually review and make enhancements to the Control Environment, to ensure strong corporate governance processes are followed.
- Coach and develop a qualified management accountant and an assistant accountant. Actively promote team members to take on new responsibilities to aid their development and longer-term goals.
- Be the key touchpoint for both Internal and External Audit purposes, to ensure a smooth, successful Audit.
- Provide cost insight and projections for use in budget and forecast works.
- Oversee VAT workings for submissions to the Group Indirect Tax Manager.
- Ad hoc project work.
Skills/Experience/Knowledge needed:
- Qualified CIMA/ ACA/ ACCA accountant.
- Experience in managing own and others’ workloads effectively.
- Strong analytical skills are required to investigate, understand and explain variances.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with knowledge of automation and advanced data processing tools desirable.
- Experience of Oracle Financials, Cognos Controller and IBM TM1 useful (though training will be provided)
